Content Review
Once an influencer submits content, the ball is in your court. You get to review what they've created, approve it if it meets your requirements, or request changes if something's off. This page walks you through how to do that effectively.
Where to Find Submissions
When an influencer submits content, you'll get an email notification. To review:
- Go to Campaigns in your dashboard
- Click on the campaign with new submissions
- Look for the "Submissions" section
- Click on a submission to see the full details
What You'll See in a Submission
Each submission includes:
- The content itself - Either a link to the posted content or a URL where you can view it
- Content type - POST, STORY, REEL, or VIDEO
- When it was submitted - The timestamp
- Any notes from the influencer - Context they wanted to share
The Review Checklist
Before approving, run through this quick checklist:
Does It Look Good?
- Is the visual quality acceptable? (lighting, focus, framing)
- For videos - is the audio clear?
- Is your product/brand shown positively?
- Does it match the influencer's usual content quality?
Did They Follow the Requirements?
- Right content type? (If you asked for a Reel, is it a Reel?)
- All required hashtags included?
- Your brand tagged?
- Key messages mentioned?
- Proper disclosure? (#ad or #sponsored)
- Promo code mentioned (if applicable)?
Any Red Flags?
- Nothing offensive or inappropriate
- No false claims about your product
- No competitor mentions
- Brand name/logo used correctly
Approving Content
If everything looks good:
- Open the submission
- Click "Approve"
- Optionally add a thank you note
- Confirm
That's it! The influencer gets notified that you approved their work.
Once you click approve, you can't take it back. The influencer can then move forward knowing that content is done. Make sure you're actually satisfied before approving.
Requesting Changes
If something isn't quite right, you can ask for revisions instead of rejecting outright.
How to Request Revisions
- Open the submission
- Click "Request Revision"
- Explain specifically what needs to change
- Submit
The Secret to Good Revision Requests
Be specific. Vague feedback leads to back-and-forth that wastes everyone's time.
| Vague (Bad) | Specific (Good) |
|---|---|
| "The hashtags are wrong" | "Please add #SummerSale to the caption" |
| "Product isn't visible enough" | "Can you reshoot with the product in the foreground? It's hard to see behind the plant." |
| "You forgot something" | "Please mention the promo code SAVE20 in the first 5 seconds" |
| "Audio quality is bad" | "There's background noise from 0:15-0:20. Can you re-record that section?" |
The influencer wants to deliver content you'll approve. Help them help you by being clear about what needs to change.
How Many Revisions Are Normal?
- 1-2 revisions - Totally normal
- 3+ revisions - Something might be wrong with the brief or expectations
If you're on revision #4, ask yourself: were the original requirements clear enough? Is this becoming scope creep? Having an honest conversation early saves headaches later.
Rejecting Content (Last Resort)
Sometimes content just doesn't work. You can reject it entirely, but this should be rare.
When Rejection Makes Sense
- Content is completely different from what was agreed
- Contains offensive or inappropriate material
- Makes false or harmful claims about your product
- Multiple revision requests haven't fixed fundamental issues
- Violates platform guidelines or laws
How to Reject
- Open the submission
- Click "Reject"
- Explain clearly why you're rejecting
- Specify if you want them to submit completely new content
If the influencer feels the rejection is unfair, they can dispute it. Always document your reasoning and tie it back to the original campaign requirements.
Reviewing Different Content Types
Different content types have different things to look for:
Posts (Static Images)
- Image quality - clear, well-lit, in-focus
- Product visibility - can you actually see your product?
- Caption - does it include all required elements?
- Your brand tagged?
Stories
- Length - enough time to deliver the message
- Link sticker - pointing to the right place?
- Text overlays - readable and correct?
Review Story submissions quickly so the influencer can post at the best time for their audience. Don't sit on these for days.
Reels
- Hook - does the first 3 seconds grab attention?
- Pacing - does it flow well?
- Audio - clear voiceover or appropriate music?
- Call to action - is there one?
Long-Form Videos
- Integration - does your product fit naturally, or does it feel forced?
- Sponsor segment length - appropriate for the video?
- Description - are required links included?
- Verbal disclosure - did they mention it's sponsored?
How Fast Should You Review?
The faster you review, the smoother the campaign goes. Influencers often time their posts around optimal engagement windows - if you sit on a review for a week, they might miss that window.
| Content Type | Review Within |
|---|---|
| Stories | 24 hours (time-sensitive) |
| Posts / Reels | 48 hours |
| Long-form Videos | 72 hours |
If you need more time, message the influencer to let them know. They'll appreciate the communication.
Common Review Mistakes
- Over-controlling creative direction - The influencer knows their audience. If something feels "off" to you but fits their style, maybe that's actually good.
- Adding new requirements - Stick to what you originally asked for. New requests mid-campaign can feel unfair to the creator.
- Vague feedback - "I don't like it" isn't actionable. Be specific.
- Slow responses - Delays hurt the influencer and the campaign.
- Endless perfectionism - Good enough is sometimes better than perfect. Don't nitpick forever.
After Everything is Approved
Once all the content is approved:
- Click "Mark Campaign as Complete"
- Head to Settlements to approve the payment
That's it - you're done! The influencer will get paid, and you've got great content out in the world.
